Delete Your BlackBox Data

BlackBox is a car ownership cost-tracking app published by George Barbour (sole trader, Scotland, United Kingdom), trading as "BlackBox". You can delete some or all of your BlackBox data at any time without deleting your account. This page explains how. If you want to delete your account itself, see Delete Your Account.

Delete a single entry

You can remove individual entries one at a time from inside the app:

Delete an entire vehicle

Deleting a vehicle automatically removes every fuel log, cost, modification, trip and image associated with that vehicle.

1. Open the car selector

Tap the active car name at the top of the Dashboard.

2. Open the vehicle's settings

Tap the edit (pencil) icon next to the vehicle you want to remove.

3. Tap "Delete Car" and confirm

The vehicle, its photos, and all of its child records are permanently removed both locally and from the cloud.

Erase all of your data (while keeping your account)

To wipe every vehicle and all child records in one go, without deleting your account itself:

1. Open the BlackBox app

You must be signed in to the account whose data you want to erase.

2. Go to Settings

Tap the Settings tab in the bottom navigation.

3. Scroll to the Danger Zone

Find the Factory Reset section.

4. Tap "Erase All Data" and confirm

All your vehicles and related records will be deleted both locally and from the cloud. The deletion is irreversible. Your account record (email and Google sign-in identifier) is preserved so you can sign back in to a clean state.

Request deletion by email

If you cannot access the app for any reason, email blackboxsupport@ghillie.xyz from the email address registered to your BlackBox account, with the subject line "Delete my data" and a brief description of what you want deleted. We will verify your identity and process the request within 30 days.

How long does deletion take?

In-app deletion (single entries, vehicles, Factory Reset) is immediate. Email-based requests are processed within 30 days of receipt. Backups containing the deleted data are rotated and overwritten within the same 30-day window.
